Boot Camp Training Saves Family from Having to Move

I chose Jabula’s Bootcamp because I realized we were in over our heads with a training problem and needed help. Tretiak and Jabula have taught me a lot about perseverance. When it seems like everything is closing in, and it’s hopeless, don’t give up, just work harder and don’t be afraid to love harder too.

Allowing children to help care for a pet teaches responsibility and instills a feeling of competency and accomplishment.

How can I teach my children to take good care of pets?

For many kids, the family pet is their best friend--a companion who not only provides unconditional love, but who also teaches them about friendship, responsibility, loyalty, and empathy.

The key to creating a true "family pet"--one who is gentle, loyal, and loving to both animals and people--is to treat the animal as a beloved family member and to provide the training and care he deserves. It's not enough to get a pet "for the kids." A pet is not a temporary playmate for children, but a lifelong family member who depends on the entire family, especially adults.  Click here for more on how to help your child learn to be a good pet owner. . .

Did you know. . . .

A dog's nose is not just used for smelling, but also to keep him cool.  The longer the dog's nose, the better his cooling system works.  Also, authorities estimate that some dogs sense of olfaction (smelling) is as high as one million times greater than that of humans.

Dog hearing fact:

A dog can hear sounds 250 yards away that most people cannot hear beyond 25 yards.  The human ear can detect sound waves vibrating at frequencies up to 20,000 times a second.  But dogs can hear sound waves that vibrate at frequencies of more than 30,000 times a second!

Dogs can see some color...

Contrary to popular belief, dogs are not color blind but can, in fact, see color.  However, their color scheme is not as vivid as ours and can be likened to our vision at twilight.  Also, dogs first distinguish objects by movement, then brightness, and finally by shape.

Toby needs your help!

Toby almost lost his life a few weeks ago, and he is lucky to be alive.  In an effort to help with his medical bills, friends are raising money by having Sunday dog washes.  See below for how you can help:

1)  We are accepting donations for Toby - checks can be made to Stephanie Iacobucci and mailed to PO Box 555, Pine Lake, GA 30072.  Or drop by Jabula and tip the jar!

2)  Dog Wash Sundays to benefit Toby.  Dogs will be brushed, washed, and conditioned.  We will blow-dry them if so desired.  Washes are $15 a dog if they are washed at Jabula or my house.  If we come to you, $30 for the first dog and $15 each additional.  We'll clip nails for an additional $10.  Call to set up an appointment for an upcoming Sunday afternoon.
