Obedience Classes Obedience Classes meet once a week for 6 consecutive weeks. Stage One - Covers basic obedience and manners. This includes sit/stay, down/stay and introduces distractions to both. We also cover leash-walking, automatic sit, coming when called, jumping up, meeting a stranger and an introduction to Heel. Pint Size Stage 1 - Training a small dog is very different to training a big dog. Pint size class is designed for dogs under 25lbs. It covers basics obedience including sit/stay, down/stay, walking on a lose leash, focussed attention and come when called. These exercises are then performed with distractions. We also include a few tricks for the little dogs including Spin, weave through your legs, and jump through a hoop. Pint size Stage 1 is not as strict as Stage 1 obedience with regard to footwork and positioning, so if you would like for your small dog to have strict training, Stage 1 is for you! Stage Two - As a bridge between basic obedience and off leash work, Stage Two offers refinement of commands learned in Stage One with a more intense focus on preparing for some off leash training. A large focus is placed on focused heel as it is key to holding your dogs attention is distractions. Pint Size Stage 2 - refreshes all the exercises in Pint Size 1, and moves into more demanding exercises by adding distance and distractions. New exercises include Automatic sit when leash walking, Down from a distance, Doorway manners, Place, Front recall, Back Place, alternating between Sit and Down, Sit in motion, Drop and Shake.
Stage Three - Geared towards those who want the freedom of off-leash reliability in all environments. Emphasis is placed on the place command and an introduction to directional commands with varying distractions will all be refined and learned. These classes take place at the training facility. They are outdoor classes to maximize distractions. This class requires the use of a remote collar. We use very specific collars, so be sure to speak to us before you purchase one. You need a fully charged collar on the day of class. Stage Four - A recent addition to the Jabula lineup to further off leash skills and overall intelligence for dogs who have graduated from Stage 3 classes, 4 private lessons or training camp. This class is designed to be fun and challenging, utilizing agility equipment, games, and other dogs and people as training aids. It is a group style private lesson tailored to the needs of each participant for the life of the dog. Attend as many or as few as you like all for the same price!
