Wild Dogs Tamed by Jabula

Carol Fridlund is a busy working mom of two of the cutest dogs in Atlanta, Reilly (16 months) and Reagan (10 months). She adopted Reilly when he was a wee pup of 4 months. The breeder Reilly lived with had a “one dog” home which gave him all of the attention, all of the time. So when he made the transition to Carol’s house, she soon discovered that he had bad house manners and that he was uncontrollable in public places. While Carol worked during the day, Reilly went to daycare and the problem surfaced quickly that he did not know how to interact with the other dogs around him. Being from a home with only one dog Reilly was not accustomed to sharing anything with other dogs. It became apparent that Reilly needed basic obedience. Carol spoke with Jabula about the situation and they recommended Stage 1 Obedience. Once he completed the program, Carol saw a big difference, although he still seemed to have “selective hearing” and caused a small stir at daycare.

Carol then adopted Reagan so Reilly could have a friend. A few months passed and although the problems had become more controllable, Reilly still had a problem focusing. Carol expressed concern for walking him on a leash due to back issues she was facing and decided to begin e-collar training with Jabula. After a couple private lessons with Gill, Carol is able to take Reilly on walks without worry. Although Reilly is still learning, he is much more focused in public which gives Carol not only a chance to enjoy walks after work, but she does not have to worry about injuring her back. Reagan plays a major role in Reilly’s training as the perfect distraction for him during feeding and walking, where Reilly has had to learn to share Carol with Reagan.

Carol has seen many advantages of taking Reilly to Jabula. She travels alot internationally with work and the training has given her dog sitters clear lines to follow while she is traveling.

These two crazy young dogs learned obedience and temperance

Reilly is able to stay on his normal routine and no longer becomes unruly while Carol is away. Carol is now considering taking Reilly and Reagan to training for the Canine Good Citizen Program (a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs). When the training is completed, Carol hopes to take both dogs to visit her mother in assisted living.

Carol says that the experience with Jabula has been incredible. Through the training process Kate and Gill were very reassuring and were always available to answer any questions. The training program at Jabula has given Carol more freedom to enjoy her dogs knowing they have clear boundaries and are aware of what is required of them.
