Led by Kate Jackson
Kate founded Jabula Dog Academy in 2003 and has spent over 22 years working exclusively in canine behavior and training. She holds certifications from Animal Behavior College, No Limitations Dog Training, and a Certificate in Applied Animal Behavior from the University of Washington. She also served as Training Director for the Humane Society of the United States—where she developed a trainer certification program implemented in 60+ cities nationwide.

Let's Clear Up a Few Things
How long until I see results?
Training comes down to clear communication and consistency. The program you choose sets the pace, but the change sticks when you learn the communication part alongside your dog. We'll map out a realistic timeline at your consultation, based on your dog and your life.
What if my dog is aggressive?
We're well schooled in aggression cases. We'll evaluate your dog with you and work out the best course of action, what it asks of you in time and cost, and what results are realistic. Sometimes that's a full program. Sometimes it's a different plan altogether. Either way, you'll leave that first meeting with an honest answer.
What's your approach to training tools?
We don't lead with any one tool. Some trainers build their whole approach around a single method. We'd rather start with your dog. We use the full range of modern training tools, e-collars included when they're the right fit, and we'll walk you through what we'd recommend and why at your consultation. No hard sell, ever.
What if I've tried training before?
Most training teaches your dog what to do. It doesn't teach you two how to read each other. There's a big difference! And it's usually why the commands held in class and fell apart at home. Focus on the relationship and the training flows easier. That's where we start.
How much time do I need to commit?
Less than you'd think, because it isn't a separate activity. Fifteen minutes of drills gets you a dog who's well trained in "training mode" and nowhere else. We teach you to work it into what you're already doing—the walk, the meal, the front door—so it holds up in real life.
What's included in your programs?
We run private training, group classes, board & train, daycare, and boarding, and most clients end up using more than one. What fits depends on your dog, your schedule, and your budget. We'll be straight with you about what each one costs and what it asks of you before you decide anything.
Can you train older dogs?
Yes. Older dogs are often easier—calmer, more focused, more interested in figuring you out. Long-standing habits take longer to shift than new ones, and we'll tell you upfront which is which for your dog. But age isn't the obstacle people think it is.
Do you offer guarantees?
No, and we'd be careful with anyone who does. Your dog isn't a machine and neither are you. What we can promise is that we'll tell you honestly what's achievable, teach you the skills to get there, and stay with you while you do the work.
Where are you located?
We're in Decatur on East Ponce de Leon, serving dog owners across the greater Atlanta metro. Training, daycare, and boarding all happen at our facility—so you'll get to know the space and the people your dog spends time with.
